The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) is an information and referral center supporting polar and cryospheric research. They distribute data and maintain information about snow cover, avalanches, glaciers, ice sheets, freshwater ice, sea ice, ground ice, permafrost, atmospheric ice, paleoglaciology, and ice cores, and also publish reports and a quarterly newsletter and maintain a collection of monographs, technical reports, and journals.
