Intercontinental Ballistic Missile

A ballistic missile with a range from about 3,000 to 8,000 nautical miles. The term
ICBM is used only for land-based systems to differentiate them from submarinelaunched ballistic missiles.

Intercontinental Ballistic Missile

A land-based, long-range ballistic missile with a range capability greater than 3,000 nautical miles. Also called ICBM.
