DEFINITION
Expired Appropriation

An appropriation that is no longer available for new obligation but is still available for
disbursement to liquidate existing obligations. Under current legislation no disbursement may be recorded or paid after a five year expiration period. Maintains all original accounting identity, e.g. FY, appropriation, PE, etc.
