Capture Rate

Capture Rate

The share of renter households seeking housing of that type, in that location, and at that price range, that need to be “captured” (i.e., leased) by the proposed property in order for it to succeed. For example, a capture rate of 5 percent would indicate that 5 percent of the potential, eligible renters in that market would need to become tenants.
