DEFINITION
Battle Damage Assessment

The estimate of damage resulting from the application of military force against a
predetermined objective. Battle damage assessments can be applied to the use of all types of weapons systems throughout the range of military operations. BDAs are primarily an intelligence responsibility with required inputs and coordination from the operators. BDA is composed of physical damage assessment, functional damage assessment, and target system assessment.
