DEFINITION
Additional Reserves

Reserves held by life insurance companies in addition to the basic life insurance reserves. They are calculated after basic reserves and are listed as a separate reserve in the annual statement. Examples of additional reserves are: term conversions, immediate payment of death claims, standard reserves, and guarantee of insurability benefits.
